the seer & the scene

"The Seer & the Scene" serves as a contemplative exploration of the intricate layers embedded within the act and art of photography.

Grounded in the understanding that a photographer inherently embodies the roles of participant, observer, and creator, the project delves into the multi-faceted engagement with the world that defines the photographic experience.

"The Seer & The Scene" asserts that photography is a reflexive practice, beginning with a curious glance outward, capturing the external world through the lens. However, beneath the surface lies a profound layer of introspection, revealing the photographer's unconscious responses to their surroundings and delving into the implications of these reactions.

Meticulously examining the introspective and subconscious mechanisms involved in attributing meaning to visual stimuli, it positions photography not only as a documenter of the external realm but also as a mirror reflecting the photographer's mental and psychological landscape.

Presented through diverse perspectives, the project navigates the photographer's roles as an observer, participant, and researcher. The narrative unfolds by contemplating others' interpretations of photographs, the photographer's perception of their own observational act, and how photographic observation shapes our collective understanding of the world.

"The Seer & The Scene" also probes the intrinsic distances within photography—the space from which the photographer observes and the realm photography inherently establishes. These distances metaphorically encapsulate how individuals perceive one another and engage with the world, encapsulating the intricate dynamics of participation, observation, and creation.

A visual and intellectual odyssey, "The Seer & The Scene" beckons viewers to reassess their perceptions and projections, acknowledging the profound role of photography as a medium for self-reflection. Through this project, the photographer becomes a conduit, prompting audiences to confront the act of looking, both within and beyond the photographic frame.
